Sun Herald launches iPad, Android tablet apps

Wednesday, September 4, 2013

The Sun Herald launches its iPad app and upgrades its iPhone app today in a move that is part of an upgrade to the SunHerald.com website that increases capacity and enhances the customer experience.

The upgrades begin at 11 a.m.

The Sun Herald has had an iPhone and Android phone app since last year, but today launches its iPad app. Android and Windows 8 version also are available.

The apps are free down

loads from their respective stores. Or use the link at SunHerald.com

As a result of another upgrade, all Sun Herald subscribers will have to reactivate their digital account, according to Sun Herald Marketing and Interactive Director John McFarland.

This one-time reactivation applies to all Sun Herald print+digital subscribers and digital-only subscribers. Sun Herald newspaper subscribers also are entitled to full digital access by activating their account. There is no change in price and no new charges.

The Sun Herald has changed one of its vendors, which requires subscribers to reactivate their account. This gives SunHerald.com subscribers unlimited access to the website, the electronic replica edition, breaking news alerts, daily news summaries and all mobile and tablet apps, McFarland said. Subscribers also may register to comment on the site.

An advertisement on page 5C in today’s paper includes graphic instructions to activate or re-activate a digital account. Subscribers can select the “Subscription” link at the top of the SunHerald.com homepage or wait until they see a “popup” appear letting them know they must activate an account before accessing any more pages. From that popup window readers may order a digital subscription or simply reactivate their existing account.

As part of the reactivation, customers will select their personal password. Customers can create a new password or use their existing password but will have to reenter it as part of their reactivation.

For more information or assistance, a “Learn More” page is available on the website or customers may call a toll-free support line at 800-346-2472 or email vipteam@apacmail.com.
