Share iPhone Files Over Bluetooth with Celeste 2

Saturday, August 31, 2013

Looking to share files with an iOS device over Bluetooth? Celeste 2 has arrived in the Cydia jailbreak app store, and the tweak incorporates several improvements over its predecessor. With Celeste 2 installed, a new Bluetooth sharing option becomes available across many stock and third party apps. Any compatible Bluetooth device can be paired with Celeste 2 to send and receive files.

Sending files between iOS devices, or from an iOS device to a Mac or PC computer has never been easier. In fact, because Celeste 2 uses the original iOS Bluetooth stack, files can be transferred while simultaneously streaming music to a Bluetooth speaker, or while paired to another device. Celeste 2 will install the Notification Center Widget app on the home screen, and when a file transfer is in progress this is where you can find a status bar indicating how much data has been sent or received.

Another option is to use Gremlin import. When enabled, the tweak will store incoming songs and videos in the proper app directory for easier access and iTunes syncing. Otherwise incoming files are stored in /var/mobile/Received and will need to be accessed with another utility such as iFile. Any device that supports OBEX Bluetooth file transfer can be paired with Celeste 2, including other mobile phones such as Nokia or BlackBerry handsets.

Celeste 2 requires iOS 6 or higher, and will automatically integrate Bluetooth share options into Photos, Music, Contacts, iBooks, Voice Memos, Notes, Safari, Ringtones, DisplayRecorder and Dropbox.

Celeste 2 is available on Cydia from the BigBoss repo for $6.99. This is a limited time sale until September 15, when the price returns to $9.99. Check here for instructions on how to jailbreak iOS 6.x with evasi0n. You can also find out how to purchase and install Cydia tweaks with this guide.
